Lisa’s Protein Packed Bisquick Waffles

Lisa's protein-packed Bisquick waffles

Most would agree that waffles are not diet food.  But what if they could be? Wouldn’t you feel like you’re getting away with something if you could indulge in them every morning?

Ingredients for low calorie, protein packed waffles.

Well, you can eat my waffles without guilt. They are high in protein, low in calories and even taste good!

One four-inch waffle only has 75 calories and offers 5 grams of protein.  2 waffles, comes to 150 calories and 10 grams of protein.  Compared to store bought protein fortified waffles mine are much better exchange.  Store bought generally run about 250 calories for 2 waffles with 12 grams of protein.

My waffles are fluffy but have a nice solid consistency. Which is again different from store-bought as they are a little dry and crispy.   Another nice thing about mine is they freeze well and you can heat them up in the toaster. That’s a plus for me. A hot breakfast, but no actual cooking!

How are mine possible?  Protein powder and collagen powder can be mixed with anything. They work especially well with Bisquick. Add in milk and an egg, and all combined, you have a respectable protein count per waffle.

Four inch protein waffles – a guilty morning indulgence.

Now, to be clear, I don’t eat just waffles for breakfast.  I pair them with a low-fat Greek yogurt with about 15 grams of protein.  Combined, that brings me to 25 grams of protein.  I also add collagen powder and nonfat half and half to my coffee, which easily gets me to around 35 grams of protein for breakfast. And it usually comes in under 350 calories.  Not a bad way to start the day!
