All four yogurts contain 15 grams of protein, but they all taste surprisingly different. I found that calories, sugar, fat, texture, and sweeteners influenced my preferences—and they’ll probably influence yours too.

Icelandic Provisions Cherry & Black Currant Skyr Yogurt

Iceland Provisions Black Cherry and Currant skyr yogurt cup

Of all the yogurts I’ve tried, Icelandic Provisions tastes the most authentic. It has a distinct yogurt flavor that isn’t covered up by sweeteners, even though it’s made with cherries and black currants and even has bits of fruit in it, which make for a nice change.

It’s sweetened with sugarcane, which could explain the difference in its flavor.  It is noticeable when compared to the stevia or surculose most other yogurts use.

This is Skyr yogurt, which uses an Icelandic process that increases the quantity of protein, similar to Greek yogurt. It’s thick but not as dense or as difficult to eat as super high-protein Greek yogurts.  With 15 grams of protein, it is a solid choice for breakfast or a snack.  It does, however, have 10 grams of sugar, 7 added, and 2 grams of fat, which might make a difference to some.  Lastly, it is 130 calories, which could pose a problem for those following a low-calorie diet.

I would consider buying this yogurt again, simply because it tastes more “real.” Its calorie count is a little high, especially compared to Greek yogurts with no sugar or fat.  But the flavor, for me, sells it. I suggest you try it just to compare it to other yogurts with similar calorie and protein counts.  You might like it better.

Siggi’s Raspberry Skyr Icelandic Non-Fat Yogurt

Siggi's Raspberry Yogurt review.

With a tart, mild raspberry flavor, it doesn’t overpower and complements its smooth, creamy texture so it goes down easy.  This is the closest thing to traditional yogurt I’ve found. It is actually Skyr, which follows a recipe stemming from Iceland.

It is a solid choice for a snack or an addition to a meal, with 15 grams of protein and 0 grams of fat.  Although, heads up to those that count, it does have 110 calories and 10 grams of sugar, 6 of it added.  Still, for flavor alone, I’ll buy this again.  It’s less thick than the high-protein Greek yogurts I’ve tried and easier on the palate, as it’s less artificial.

Ratio Trio Yogurt Cultured Dairy Snack, Black Cherry

Ratio Trio Black Cherry Dairy Snack review

Well, it’s definitely cherry flavored.  I usually enjoy cherry-flavored foods, but it’s hit or miss whether it’s going to taste like a cherry cough drop.  This yogurt almost reaches that level of artificial flavor, but falls just short.

It’s not a bad flavor, and for 15 grams of protein, I’ve eaten much worse. The texture is smooth and thick, but not heavy, nor is it as thick as paste, like some yogurts.

There are a few drawbacks that might influence whether you want to try it.  It has 9 grams of fat, all of it saturated.  It’s fortified with high-oleic sunflower and/or avocado oil, which puts it in the keto-friendly food category.  Because of this, it is not considered yogurt but a dairy snack.  On the upside, it has only 1 gram of sugar and only 3 carbs, so for those who are counting, it might make a difference.  At 150 calories, it is one of the highest compared to other yogurts.

I won’t buy this again, mostly because of the high fat content.  The calorie count is high too, compared to other yogurts with the same amount of protein.  It’s not a bad choice, but it might be better for those more interested in following a keto diet versus a low-calorie diet.

Oikos Triple Zero Mixed Berry High Protein Nonfat Greek Yogurt

Oikos Triple Zero yogurt review

A sweet berry flavor that’s just a hint artificial. Which is odd because it has no artificial flavoring.  But it is sweetened with stevia instead of sugar, which makes a difference.  It’s not bad flavor exactly, but it’s something that might take getting used to.

This yogurt is thick and heavy, like all high-protein Greek yogurts, which I have difficulty with. But it also has a lot going for it.  With 0 sugar, 0 fat, 15 grams of protein, and 90 calories, it’s hard to complain too much.

I buy this yogurt regularly because of the high protein content and force myself to get past the taste.  Like I said, it’s not bad, but then again, it’s not a sweet yogurt with fruit at the bottom of the cup either.  Regardless, between the protein level and the calorie count, it’s worth trying

My Final Take

On my next grocery trip I’ll probably buy Oikos Triple Zero, Siggi’s, and Icelandic Provisions. Each has something different to offer, and I’d choose one depending on whether I wanted the best nutrition, the most traditional yogurt experience, or simply the best flavor. Ratio Trio wasn’t a bad product, but its higher fat and calorie content didn’t fit my personal goals on GLP-1.
